Bourne highlighted the UK Government\u2019s ongoing efforts to develop a sustainable and resource-efficient economy at the recent Festival of Circular Economy event in London.<\/p>\n
Reaffirming the UK government\u2019s commitment to developing a comprehensive circular economy strategy, Bourne outlined the government\u2019s current priorities in the transition to a circular economy, including the economic benefits of more sustainable and resilient supply chains.<\/p>\n
She also provided delegates with an update on the emerging Circular Economy Strategy for England, being developed by the Circular Economy Taskforce.<\/p>\n
This includes the Phase One circular economy roadmaps for priority sectors, including agri-food, the built environment, chemicals and plastics, transport, and electronics.<\/p>\n
\nIt was encouraging to hear about the progress being made, and we are pleased to reaffirm CIWM and the Circular Economy Institute\u2019s support in developing and delivering this critical strategy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Additionally, Bourne gave an update on the Circular Economy Taskforce itself, whose members \u2013 including James Cruddas, Deputy Director of Trade Operations and Systems at Defra \u2013 attended the event to support businesses in transitioning to a circular economy.<\/p>\n
Following Bourne\u2019s address, Dan Cooke, Director of Policy, Communications and External Affairs at the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM): \u201cDefra\u2019s decision to share an update on the UK\u2019s circular economy strategy at the Festival underscores the vital role this event plays in bringing together a diverse, global community committed to making this transition a reality.<\/p>\n
