The color yellow was a favorite of the great artist Van Gogh among many other famous artists. Happier times and warm feelings are given off by the color yellow. Violet is a complimentary color of the primary color yellow. This simply translates into them going extremely well together. Yellow is the color of the sun or beautiful cheery flowers. Colors used to be assigned to certain genders but the y are not anymore now both genders enjoy the color yellow. Pale yellow is a great color to paint your baby nursery if you are waiting to be surprised at what gender you will be having. An outfit that is basically yellow is not a popular garment for women because it does not go well with most skin tones but yellow accents are always a plus and will always bring a painting to life.
What constitutes the yellow part of yellow paint?
Yellows were created from the natural colors found in the earth and from ochre. The modern paints vary widely and come from other components like Copper complexes, Cadmium, Potassium and Cobalt. Cadmium comes in just yellow or a light yellow version. Lots of paints are available in oils especially yellows like, Hansa Yellow, Lemon Yellow, Azo Yellow Yellow Ochre and Naples Yellow just to name a few.
Blending yellow:
Mixing colors from light to dark is the better way to go. Darkening a color is easier than making a color lighter. Of course, as a primary color yellow is used to create secondary colors and triad colors. Yellow gives a warmth to any color you mix it with.
To get a gold color all you have to do is use a small dot of brown. Yellow mixed with a dot of red creates a great orange and when yellow is given a dot of grey it will resemble a fruit green color. The key to mixing paints is to do tiny changes and bring the color to where you wish it to be gradually. Paint that dries in oil especially will appear slightly lighter once it dries on your canvas.
